POSSIBLE SUPERNOVA IN PGC 48989
Jianlin Xu, Mi Zhang, Xiaowei Zhang, Jingyuan Zhao, Weigen Liu, Jiangao Ruan and Xing Gao report the discovery of a possible supernova in PGC 48989. The transient (mag approximately 16.8) on one 40-s survey image (limiting mag about 17.5) taken by Xing Gao in Xingming Observatory Sky Survey(C42) around Mar. 08.75273, 2018, using a unfiltered CCD ( + Celestron C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope D=356-mm @f/6.9 ). The new object approximately located at R.A.=13h48m40.63s +43d25’04”.7 (equinox 2000.0). Which is about 16.5″ east and 20″ north of the center of the PGC 48989. Nothing is visible at this position on archival image taken on Jan. 16.93284, 2018 (limiting mag 18.0).
