POSSIBLE SUPERNOVA IN an Anonymous Galaxy
Zhijian Xu(Nanjing,Jiangsu,China) and Xing Gao (Urumqi,Xinjiang,China), report the discovery of a possible supernova (mag approximately 18.0) on a 40-s survey image (limiting mag about 18.5) taken by Xing Gao in Xingming Observation Sky Survey(C42) around Aug.01.66671 UT.using an unfiltered CCD ( + Celestron C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope D=356-mm @f/6.9 ). The new object approximately located at R.A.=14h 10m 50s.17 Decl.=+55o25’24”.0(equinox 2000.0). Which is about 1.6″ west and 14.9″ south of the center of the host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on Jun.25(limiting mag 18.0),Jun.24(limiting mag 18.0) or on the DSS from Jun.08,1996(limiting mag about 19.7).
