POSSIBLE NOVA IN M31
Mi Zhang and Xing Gao, report the independent discovery of a possible nova (mag
approximately 16.6) on several 300-s survey images (limiting mag about 20.0)
taken by Xing Gao in Xingming Observatory Sky Survey(C42) around Mar. 08.58523
UT using a unfiltered CCD ( + 0.6-m f/8 Ritchey-Chretien telescope ). The
transient was independently discovered and first announced by Koichi Itagaki and
designated as PNV J00424612+4111362. The transient approximately located at
R.A.=00h42m46.14s +41d11’35”.8 (equinox 2000.0). Which is about 20.5″ east and
272.7″ south of the center of the NGC224(M31). Nothing is visible at this
position on archival images taken on Mar. 03.63137 UT(limiting mag 20.0).
